Monster Karaoke & DJ Services is a mobile entertainment company that hails originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Martin Dalcourt (the Canadian) & his wife Tammy (the Iowan) are the Owner/Operators of said mobile company. They have been providing quality entertainment to literally thousands of singers, listeners & dancers for over 20 years. Martin, a dramatic/visual arts major in high school and college, came across an opportunity to host for another company, (back in 1989) and the rest is history. Karaoke was a lot different back then. There was no TV screen with lyrics that changed color across the screen. The lyrics were in binders and the music was all on cassettes and compact discs. Running a karaoke show was a lot more challenging back then.
But now ...
Modern technology has paved the way for Monster Karaoke to host shows from a laptop using mp3+g technology, along with quality programs that help keep track of all the singers in a fair and even rotation. Over the years, Martin has honed his ability to appeal to a wide range of clientele from 'sweet 16' teenie-boppers to grandma & grandpa's 50th wedding anniversary.
In 1999, Martin & Tammy met over the Internet through "ICQ" (a realtime chat program). Tammy moved to Toronto, and they were married on Halloween 2000. Tammy takes care of the business end of the company (bookings, website & music purchases). Though not a great singer, occasionally you will see her at a show with a MIC in hand!
Together they have 6 boys, several who are very much a part of "Monster". They all love to sing, make great roadies and attend many of the events they do.
